12.5. The Pre-mythic Dark Ages
12.5. Status of pre-Kredha Yugam period: Siddhas have enumerated their calculation about ancient time line to the extent of 18 Yugams in which, we are now in the last 18th Yugam.870 If one observes the enumeration of the 18 Yugams, one can observe the first 14 Yugams was enumerated in crores (10,000,000) of years and they were enumerated without any logic to facilitate easy calculation and memorization. Since PuraaNaas say that each Yugam ended with a deluge, it appears that, the span of time between two great deluges was considered as one Yugam. That is why, there is no mathematical technique employed for enumerating these Yugams. Also, it appears that, these years were rounded off to nearest crores. But, with the emergence of Siddhas, this vague visualization of past time was sensibly streamlined like a table of numbers in school books, as 4:3:2:1 ratio, giving value of 4,32,000 years for each unit and during these four aeons (from 15th to 18th Yugams); 871 Siddhas attempted to keep historical record as far as possible from 15th aeon. We have seen such historical evidences in Siddhas’ literature in the earlier sections.
(a) Existence of mankind before Kredha Yugam: But, even before the above four Yugams there were mysterious people, like the Siddhas, who belonged to ancient Yogic cult, that prevailed on the submerged lands on Indian Ocean. These great spiritual masters are presently considered among divinities of Hinduism. It may be wondered what happened to the relics of those periods. Probably kings, priest kings, or at least group leaders would have ruled their reign in those days. They would have had their residence at least in the form of rough constructions. This presumption gives rise to an anomaly as to, why there are no remains of such kingdoms available. The main reason could be natural calamities, like earth quakes and its repercussion, causing of huge holes on earths surface, developing into deep craters around the same, that could engulfing the oceans around, with landscapes surrounding such oceans, etc., including the above ancient settlements. The kingdoms and settlements that were submerged into floods that was the result of those civilisations the
imbalance caused by the unsteady earth, would have buried the relics of those civilisations deep into such craters and settled deeper into those holes and the crater later being filled with rocks that rolled from above, and got levelled later would have destroyed all evidences of an earlier civilisation. The crater would have given birth to a new sea and later revert back into a plain during Bogar’s time. The following verse of Agathiyar attests the probable truth in the above analogy:
“This is the passage frequented
By great emperors and kings;
This is the tract frequented
By kings who ruled during past aeons,
Because of the curse of a Rishi,
The castle turned into a mound,
The sturdy courtyards were thus,
Covered by the floods of deluge.”872
